The day began early at 7am as everyone got up had breakfast and left the house by 7:55 as we had an 8:30 tour of the Cadbury Chocolate Factory. Despite dangerous, erratic driving, we arrived safely just on time. As it was, we waited for about 15 minutes for another group of tourist to arrive. We used this time to consume as many of the free samples as possible.
The tour was very interesting, seeing many stages of the chocolate making process. Ironically we found out that because all chocolate produced at Cadbury's is shipped to Melbourne, chocolate is more expensive in Tasmania than Victoria due to the extra freight! Afterwards, we practically purchased our weight in chocolate at the gift store. (slight exageration... it wasn't ALL chocolate ;) )
On the return journey we stopped in at Officeworks to acquire some internet access that some of us were having difficulty copying without.
We were quiet tired, and had some chocolate to sleep off, so some of us had a rest at home.
At the chocolate factory we got some discount vouchers for Putters Adventure Golf, so we set off to have a round. It was quiet a novell course, with pneumatic tubes to transport the balls to higher levels, ramps to get to the lower levels and even a water wheel as part of a hole. (Very few competitors were skillful enough to master the water wheel.) Harrison ended up being the champion as he scored several holes-in-one.
Then it was off to Chicken Feed, a $2 shop to purchase some essentials. Poppy, Mark, Harrison and Campbell headed off for a walk to Sandy Bay. We found a playground and then inspected a shipyard. The boys were quite impressed with the railway system that the shipwrights used.
We had a barbeque dinner consisting of sausages, onions, potatoes and steamed veges. Andrew would have been jealous.
After dinner, Mum, Dad and Mark did the washing taking advantage of the fact that the washing machines and dryers were free. While Chris cleaned the unit and Harrison and Campbell played Sesame Street Uno with the children from No. 5. Importantly they worked out that the meaning of the Grouch card is that you get to distribute 3 of your cards to your opponents.
